E-books are accessible in different ways, depending on who owns it and from where they are sourced (e.g., ProQuest, EBSCOhost, JSTOR, Springer, etc.):
-
From the Libraries home page, search Discover or Discover Advanced for the keywords, title, author or subject of the e-book you are looking for.
-
If the e-book is owned by Smith, click on "Smith: Link to resource" or "Read this eBook" in the record to be connected to the full text. If it's owned by the Five Colleges (FC), use "Five Colleges: Link to resource" in the record. If you're off-campus you may be prompted to enter your Smith username and password.
-
If it’s owned by one of the other Five Colleges, it is only available to users from that campus.
-
Depending on the license from the publisher, some e-books are only able to be read by one user at a time.
